Mission

Terrazzo Tea was founded by longtime friends who grew up bonding over late-night hangs at boba shops in California. For them, boba was never just a drink — it was a way to connect, catch up, and make new memories.

Years later, they noticed something missing in Austin: a boba scene that felt fun, creative, and community-driven. So they took a leap and built something of their own — inspired by all those nights spent sipping milk tea.

At Terrazzo Tea, we welcome everyone — from seasoned boba lovers to first-timers who aren’t sure what to order yet. Every drink on our menu is crafted with bold flavor combos, playful toppings, and a whole lot of intention.

Our name, Terrazzo, comes from the colorful speckled pattern made by mixing different elements — a beautiful blend of many pieces coming together. That’s how we see our space: a gathering place for people from all walks of life, brought together over boba.

We’re more than just a tea shop. We’re a creative hub, a community hangout, and a tribute to friendship, flavor, and everything in between.

Longtime friends Kimmie and Vi grew up hanging out at the many boba shops in San Jose, California, which were often open late. When Kimmie moved to Austin in 2017, the pair "FaceTimed every single day" while Vi stayed in San Jose and worked in marketing. While studying at Texas State University in 2018, Kimmie opened her first business: Icy Rolls, a bespoke rolled ice cream and boba shop. After being laid off in San Jose, moving to Austin during the pandemic, and being laid off again from her tech job, Vi said the stars aligned to partner with her best friend and open their own take on boba.
